ELECT HER EVENT A SUCCESS
The Westview PTSA, in conjunction with the Poway Career Technical Education Department, organized and hosted an "Elect Her" workshop on Friday, April 26 for PUSD high school students. More than a dozen Westview students joined students from other PUSD high schools as the non-profit Running Start facilitated an engaging event. Our students learned the importance of increasing the numbers of women in office; did exercises to increase confidence; heard from a panel of leaders; and learned how to give an elevator speech on an issue important to them. Panelists included a San Diego Councilwoman, a former Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense / Campaign Manager for a Congresswoman, three PUSD Board members, and two PUSD student leaders. The students’ elevator speeches were on a wide range of topics - and were quite impressive as well!

Parliamentarian: Assist the President in managing meetings and advises on parliamentary procedure, conduct Bylaw review and set up annual Board election.
Corresponding Secretary: Retrieves and distributes PTSA mail to relevant Board members. Prepares and sends formal acknowledgment letters to donors for tax purposes. May also do one or more of the following, which may also be designated to other Board members: assist with preparing draft agendas; draft and send (with President’s approval) other PTSA correspondence; social medial and advertising drafting and oversight; preparation of written content for website, newsletters, etc.; and updates for school media.
Committee Assistant Chair positions for Grad Nite and Student/Staff Recognition are also available. Assistant Chairs are not Board members, only attend Board meetings if the Committee Chair is unable to do so, and do not vote in Board decisions.
