Learning in 3D: Dream, Dare, Do
Finishing Strong
All classes are beginning their research for the Intercultural Festival and will soon start preparing for their portfolio presentations. Kinder students are gearing up for Kinder Buddy Day. First-grade students just finished a project where they each created audiobooks for all to enjoy. We have a group of second and fourth-grade students planning Bike Rodeo. After a campaign to find the owners of our lost and found items, the third grade coordinated a donation to United Gospel Mission last week. There is a great deal left to learn and do this year, so we ask that you make every effort to be on time for the full day through the last day of school. Let's end the final six weeks of school strong!
Healthy Lifestyles Expo: TOMORROW from 5:30-7:00
Join us for an evening of fun, food, and a celebration of healthy living. We hope to see you there!
Preparing for Upcoming Events
Letter B: Bike Rodeo
5/10/2024 @ 7:40
A school-wide event, Bike Rodeo invites students to bring their bikes to school for an early morning ride. There is a big track behind the gym and a small track next to the west lawn. Teachers and staff cheer with students not participating, and we encourage you to stay and watch also.
Letter F: Fun Run
5/16/2024 @ 8:15
The entire student body participates in a run around the TCU campus to promote movement
and exercise. Parents are invited to run alongside their students or volunteer to serve at stations along the route. Pro tip: Bring a pocketful of Band-Aids!
Beckham McCarron was selected as the artist for the 2023-2024 shirt. Order details will come out soon.
Letter F: Family Banner
5/16 @ 5:30
Hard-to-miss fixtures at Carlson, family banners hang in the hallway and represent each family with a student currently enrolled at Carlson. In the Spring, you will be asked to create a unique banner that represents your family. At Intercultural Festival your student will parade your family banner through the halls and then leave it at school so it can be proudly hung alongside the others. A banner crafting night (5/2/2024) is hosted by the school in advance of the event. Celebrating each family together in order to create a caring, understanding community — that is the “Carlson Way.”
Letter I: Intercultural Festival
5/16/2024 @ 5:40
This exciting and uniquely Carlson event kicks off with our Family Banner Parade
(see “Family Banner”). In preparation for the classroom presentations portion of the evening, students work hard to do research on either a specific culture, country, or artist, and create artifacts to present to an outside audience. Students work shifts to present what they’ve learned.
2024-2025 Student Registration
Sandra is challenging us to be 100% registered by 5/1. We can do it!
We recommend families have three items handy when starting the registration process:
- A non-fwisd.org email address
- The child's student ID for returning students (Parents can access their child's ID number via Focus or Parent Portal)
- Child's birthdate
