ENGLISH LEARNER FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SURVEY
Parents of English Learners: Tomorrow, Friday, February 28th, is the last day Poway Unified will be conducting our Family Engagement and Accountability survey to gather input from all families of English Learner students. This survey helps shape the District’s goals and guide priorities for the 2025-2026 school year. Your feedback is extremely helpful as we continue to seek ways to better our English Learner program. Please click HERE to complete the survey.
DELAC (DISTRICT ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE) MEETING
Our next DELAC meeting is Wednesday, March 12th, at 6pm at the District Office. You are cordially invited to attend this meeting with your DELAC representative. At this meeting, we will be looking at the results of our engagement survey and will engage with one another to gather input from parents along with brainstorming ways to continue to support our English Learner families. Your time is precious and we would gladly appreciate you attending to support the hard work of your parents!
NEW INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FOR ADOPTION
Learning Support Services is pleased to announce that our Middle and High School teams have recommended new instructional materials for adoption. Our Middle Schools are recommending Amplify for English Language Arts in grades 6-8, and our High School team is recommending McGraw Hill’s Economics for economics courses. Both teams conducted thorough reviews to ensure alignment with state standards. ELA materials were evaluated using the CA ELA/ELD Framework and CA Common Core Standards, and the Economics materials were assessed based on the CA History-Social Science Content Standards and Framework. Poway Unified School District invites you to review these materials and provide feedback. The links below will take you to the pages where you can log in, review materials, and provide input (through March 10th).
POSITIVITY PROJECT
Hi Grizzly Families, this week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Humility. Humility means you do not seek the spotlight. You let your actions speak for themselves.
Humble people have an accurate (not underestimated) sense of their abilities and achievements. They hold the capacity to acknowledge their mistakes and limitations and are open to advice and new ideas. They do not show off their possessions or accomplishments.
Developing humility is associated with positive developmental outcomes in individuals. It allows a person to honestly reflect on their abilities and acknowledge how and where they can improve. Humility opens them up to new ideas, advice, and (consequently) abilities that pride, arrogance, or pretentiousness often block. Therefore, humility makes them desired members of a team.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” -ERNEST HEMINGWAY

SHARE THE LOVE! IT’S NOT TOO LATE!
The Willow Grove Educational Foundation supports essential programs at our school such as PE, Kindergarten and Grade-Level Impact Teachers, and Library Development. A donation to the WGEF is a great way to show our kids some love by ensuring that programs like The Grizzly Gazette, Math Olympiad and Odyssey of the Mind receive the ongoing support that they need.
We encourage you to share with friends, family, grandparents, aunts and uncles who might like to get involved and support our amazing Grizzlies.
We are 85% to our annual goal! Help us reach it and make sure that our students feel the love by donating to the WGEF’s Grizzly Growth Fund. Fliers went home in your student’s green folders the week before break, but we have many other ways to make it easy for you to donate. EVERY dollar counts!
