NATIONAL SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST WEEK
During the week of November 11th-15th, 2024, schools nationwide will celebrate National School Psychology Week (NSPW) to highlight the critical work school psychologists do to help students thrive. Psychologists support students' learning and mental and behavioral health, promote positive and inclusive school climates, serve on school safety and crisis teams, and collaborate with families, teachers, and administrators to improve student outcomes. Please join us in celebrating our Willow Grove Elementary School Psychologists Brenna Fuoti and Jake Linnell. We are lucky to have both of them on our team to help support our Grizzlies!

POSITIVITY PROJECT
Hi Grizzly Families, our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Bravery. Bravery means you act with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary.
Bravery refers to voluntary (not coerced) action in the face of a dangerous circumstance. This strength involves judgement; the brave person must have an understanding of the risks and consequences involved in acting. According to Socrates and Plato, forethought separates acts of valor from acts of rashness. This means that bravery isn’t simply fearlessness, but instead the overcoming of fear.
Overcoming fears is critically important in individual development, as it allows the person to do more and become more. A person can be brave every single day. For example, some people with social anxiety are brave just by leaving their house and talking with people. On a physical level, bravery allows us to overcome fears, such as swimming or playing a sport. And, on a moral level, doing what we know to be right, despite the risks, gives us the sense that we are acting on behalf of a larger purpose.
“I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” -NELSON MANDELA

TEACHER CONFERENCE WEEK
Hello Wonderful WG Families,
On Monday, November 18th, the PTA will be hand delivering snack bags to each of our teachers to kick-off Teacher Conference Week!
We have collected Teacher Favorite Things lists to personalize our snack bags. As of the time this email is being written, we have raised $170 of our $1200 fundraising goal, so we really need your help to make this happen!
Please consider donating towards treats so we can make this as special and teacher-specific as it can be.
You can access the link to donate here.
The treat bags will hopefully bring a smile to our exceptional teachers’ faces and help get them through the jam packed week ahead.
We appreciate your continued support in appreciating our incredibly hard working teachers!
